What is Internet of Things (IoT)?

Introduction

Nowadays, Internet is the things that people need to find more about information. On the other hands, 90% people use Internet for Social Media Apps. Is that the main function of the Internet?

The right Answer is Yes... Because, Internet used for data exchange.

Today, Technology of computing system was expanded too fast. If we late to learn about it and do not want to know about technology, we will be late to know about the information as if we life in stone age... hi hi hi... Why? Because information has been digitized and the technology will be change every human role in this life such as when people want to lock the door while they will going out, or when forget to switch the lamp off , technology smart home was change human role to do this.

Internet of Things (IoT) has developed from around basic technology of computing like Embedded System, Cloud Computing, Networking, and others. According to the terms of it, Internet of Things is "Something that connected to the Internet" but, we should remember about the basic function of the Internet is the system was build for data exchange. Depend to the description, we could expand the definition to "Something that Connected to The Internet which Share or Exchange The Data Over There".

Still confused? okay we will describe it one by one with an example "You are chatting with someone". Like This....

Mark begin to chat with you with typing some words in his mobile apps. When Mark press the Send button in his apps, the Messages that containing Text has been sent in yours over the Internet connection. Then, your mobile give the notification to notice you about message from Mark. You read the message from Mark and you got an Information. It's called Internet of things too.

The IoT Architecture Concept

Things > it means the every things that contain the data, or data acquisition things like sensor, mobile, processing plant (when we talk about plant, it means machine or controlled system), or data resource  that may acquire.

Local Network > It mean LAN or similar protocols like Zigbee, Bluetooth, or Wire Connection.

Internet > Whole people must know about it.

Back-End Service > It may possible computer system like server in Data Center, Stand Alone Server, User Devices, or Scripts were built for Analysis.

Implementations

Recently, we often hear about Smart City. What is the smart city for you? What kind the smart city which you are imagine?

In my city, many practitioners, project leader, student, and programmer says about Smart City is a system was build to processing the government data and implement it to government office. Yap, that's right. Many concept and definition about it but, that's all diversity of theory as long as still in the area of IoT concept. According to me:

Smart City is a big concept that implement for urban life that provide easily and efficiency accessible information which acquire by system. (Wahyu Rudiyan Saputra, 2017)

Hahaha, according to explanation on the Introduction and Smart City Concept picture, IoT act on every "Things" that connected to the networks like Traffic Sensor, Parking Lot Detection, Air Quality Measurement, etc.
